High-quality essential oils play a central role in zoopharmacognosy sessions and are often the most effective method for achieving fast, meaningful results in animal-led botanical therapy. While I typically begin a session by offering powdered plant nutrients to gain an initial “yes/no” response from the animal—giving early insight into potential imbalances or health concerns—it is the essential oils that truly help to define the issue and drive the therapeutic process forward.
Although I may start with a proposed group of oils based on the animal’s history or presenting concerns, I am always guided by the animal’s responses, adapting the session accordingly. Every animal is unique, and their reactions to essential oils can vary widely.
Subtle but telling signs—such as slow blinking, changes in breathing, sighs, yawning, or choosing to sit or lie down—help me understand which oils the animal is resonating with. These responses allow me to fine-tune my offerings and continue presenting oils that the animal wants to engage with empowering them to guide their own healing process

I work exclusively with high-grade essential oils, sourced from trusted suppliers, including those provided by my teacher, Caroline Ingraham—a pioneer in the field of applied zoopharmacognosy. The purity and quality of these oils are vital, as animals are extremely sensitive to synthetic additives or contaminants, and only the highest-quality oils can safely and effectively support their natural self-healing instincts.
